Reliance Security Group

Custodial & Police

Reliance was the first private company to provide Custody Assistants and Detention Officers to the police and one of the first to offer outsourced Prisoner Escort & Custody Services. We now employ over 2,000 officers in custody operations across the UK.

Prisoner Custody Officers ensure all people in custody remain in a safe, secure and caring environment. That can involve the transportation, searching, handcuffing, supervising, accompanying within court rooms, and when necessary, restraining of prisoners. Within our Scottish contract, you could also conduct inter-prison transfers and other services, such as escorting prisoners on compassionate visits.

Our Custody Assistants and Detention Officers work with police forces around the country – freeing up Police time to help communities directly. Our people help process and look after over 250,000 detainees annually, including taking DNA samples, obtaining fingerprints and photographs, and conducting searches.

We provide the safe and secure transportation of youth offenders for the Youth Justice Board, transporting over 4,000 people every year all around the UK. Our Youth Escort Officers move vulnerable young people between secure locations and courts, ensuring their security, safety and welfare, both physical and mental.

Real People

Bob Grover,
Custody Assistant

“I love catching people who think they’ve got away with it! Sometimes repeat offenders come in on a false identity and we find them out via fingerprinting. It’s a rewarding job. Every day is different and there’s a real sense of working as a team.”
