Reliance Security Group

Corporate Social Responsibility

The group subscribes to the principles of corporate social responsibility and the following summarises the initiatives and plans in two key areas:

Environment

It is the group’s policy, wherever it conducts activities and business, to ensure that operational procedures are identified to give proper regard to the conservation of the environment.

In implementing this policy, however, the nature of the group’s business means that it will necessarily be influenced, and mostly constrained, by the attitude and policies adopted on environmental matters by its customers since the vast majority of group activities are carried out at customer sites and premises. In the light of this, the group does not review and report against an environmental plan of its own. Its environmental policy, however, does reinforce a commitment to manage and assess waste, promote environmentally friendly practices and to assess the environmental impact of the materials that are used in the group’s business. Wherever possible, the group recycles its waste, printer toner cartridges and other similar consumables.

The group also recognises the importance of complying with relevant environmental legislation and regulations, as well as other requirements (including those of its customers), and in most contracts that it enters into, the group assumes express obligations to ensure such compliance.

Where the group does not have the necessary specialist expertise itself, it seeks appropriate external advice wherever necessary.

The community

As a leading supplier of contract security services and process outsourcing services to the criminal justice sector, the group actively promotes the work of crime prevention agencies and works in partnership with them to help prevent crime, to the benefit of the wider community. The group is a sponsor of a number of initiatives and organisations, such as Crime Concern, Reliance School Watch, Reliance Business Watch and local police force and other crime prevention schemes.

The group also provides significant employment opportunities across the country and places great emphasis on its people, investing heavily in training and personal development. Much of the group’s activities are carried out for, or in partnership with, the public sector and it continues to invest in public private partnerships.
