Suzy Lamplugh Trust

Suzy Lamplugh Trust’s National Personal Safety Day has received a boost this year in the form of a £1,000 prize for the winner of its SAFE & SOUND Schools Competition. The prize has been donated by Reliance Security Services.

The competition asks schools to submit podcasts or videos produced by students/pupils, which warn of the risks surrounding the use of headphones or mobile phones. The Trust will feature its favourite submissions on its website with the overall winning school receiving the £1,000 first prize.

Every year, thousands of children and young people are mugged for their mobile phones or mp3 player, or attacked whilst being distracted by them. The aim of this year’s National Personal Safety Day campaign is to raise awareness of the personal safety issues surrounding the use of such technologies.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Stephen Hollings, Sales & Marketing Director for Reliance Security said: "We are delighted to be backing this important safety initiative for young people. Reliance is an enthusiastic supporter of the work of the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and its role in raising awareness of the dangers faced by young people during the course of their daily lives. We look forward to seeing the results of the competition."

National Personal Safety Day takes place on Monday 13th October 2008. For more information visit www.suzylamplugh.org
