Reliance Facilities Management launches BSRIA publication

At a seminar today at Canary Wharf, London, Reliance Facilities Management launched the BSRIA Building Handover and Operations and Maintenance Manual.   Reliance Facilities Management is sponsoring this publication as a contribution to promoting better and closer co-operation and understanding between construction management and maintenance teams.  The publication highlights the scope for mutual benefits.

To assess the impact on the life cycle performance of the building an understanding must extend beyond the context of each construction and maintenance activity.  This understanding will increase the opportunities for occupiers to reduce their carbon footprint and energy usage.  The BSRIA Building Handover and Operations and Maintenance Manual is an important tool for a developing critical understanding between design, construction and the facilities management of safer, more productive and energy efficient buildings.

Professionals from across the spectrum of property and facilities management attended the seminar.  The agenda featured both an overview of the Manual itself as well as a concise report on the energy certification programme currently legislated for public access buildings.

‘We are delighted with the positive response to this publication and the interest that was generated by the seminar.  The ensuing debate on the opportunities for facilities management to influence a positive environmental agenda proves the timeliness of this guide,’ commented Barry Nealon, Chairman of Reliance Integrated Services.
