CHESSINGTON, 7 March 2010 – Reliance High-Tech have teamed up with GPS technology leader buddi to monitor and track riders as they cycle 549km from Rosslare to Edinburgh to help raise £1m in aid of Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation.
The riders will be provided with a GPS-enabled buddi that is light and comfortable for the wearer. Its compact form factor makes this device smaller and lighter than any other currently available but can accurately locate a person to within a few metres. The Reliance Monitoring Centre will correlate the riders’ information with each device and through sophisticated mapping software will monitor and track each rider’s progress across Ireland. Operators at the BS5979 CAT II monitoring centre are able to provide instant updates on the riders’ location and map their path taken along the route.
Paul Holdstock, Director of Monitoring and Surveillance at Reliance High-Tech, said, “We are pleased to be supporting a worthy cause while demonstrating our expertise in monitoring outside of the UK. In this case, we are utilising the technology for a cycling event but it has serious applications including the monitoring and locating of vulnerable people, lone worker protection as well as extensive benefits in offender management and mental health care.”
Reliance High-Tech and buddi currently partner to provide a range of monitoring solutions including lone worker protection, vulnerable person and secure patient monitoring and offender management.
