Reliance Security Services is delighted to announce that its people have won three National BSIA Security Officer of the Year Awards. This success follows the presentation of five Regional Awards in May. The national winners were presented with their awards by Peter Hermitage QPM, Chairman of the Security Industry Authority at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on June 22nd.
Best Team: The Harvey Centre (Chelmsford)
The team received this award for their consistent professionalism and dedication. They particularly excelled during a major incident where all staff and the general public had to be sealed into the shopping centre due to fears of a terrorist incident, following reports of a strange gas-like smell.
Best Newcomer: Michael Ferguson (London South)
Michael, from Lewisham, is based in the Accident and Emergency department at St Thomas’ Hospital in Westminster and has received three commendations from hospital staff in the nine months that he has worked at the hospital.
Outstanding Act: Polycarp Ibegbulem (Docklands and London East)
Polycarp works at the Accident and Emergency department at North Middlesex Hospital in Edmonton and won this award for courageously defusing a potentially violent situation when a group of seventeen youths were attempting to gain entry to a treatment room in A & E.
Congratulating all the national award winners, Reliance Security Services Managing Director Nigel Forbes said: “I am delighted that our people have won these awards. This annual event draws attention to the great acts of courage and commitment to our customers that are demonstrated by Security Officers and teams on a daily basis.”
