Swine flu - business continuity planning

Introduction
Swine flu is a respiratory disease and has some elements of a virus found in pigs. The disease has been confirmed in a number of countries, including the United Kingdom and it is spreading from human-to-human, which could lead to what is referred to as a pandemic flu outbreak. Pandemic flu is different from ordinary flu because it is a new virus that appears in humans and spreads very quickly from person to person worldwide.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is closely monitoring cases of swine flu globally and due to the number of cases, has increased the Pandemic Alert Phase to Level 5.

Reliance Business Continuity Planning
Reliance is monitoring the situation closely and has activated its Business Continuity Plan to mitigate the potential impact of an active pandemic on our customers and staff.

For reasons of prudence and due to the uncertain nature of the scale and impact of a pandemic our planning is sufficiently flexible to cope with a range of possible impacts.

Reliance Specialist Support
Reliance is well placed to respond through Project Security Limited. This part of our business is designed to provide bespoke security solutions to customers with demands outside the normal remit of manned guarding operations, such as those placed upon them during a pandemic. They can provide a flexible workforce which can be adapted to your requirements and has extensive experience in rapid and unscheduled upsizing.

Coupled to the fact that our operational centres are supported by a robust relief officer programme, Reliance has a combined manpower pool and experience which is unique within the industry.

To help protect yourself and others Reliance has produced an informative A3 size poster which can be displayed in washrooms and kitchens. Please click here to download a copy for your workplace.
