Reliance Security scoops four BSIA Regional Awards

Despite fierce competition and hundreds of entries from across the UK, four Reliance people have emerged as winners in this year’s regional BSIA Personnel Awards:

Outstanding Act - Moses Afolaranmi, Scotland
Finding himself faced with two aggressive intruders at Internacionale’s Head Office in Glasgow, Reliance Security Officer Moses Afolaranmi was undaunted – he succeeded in apprehending both of them and calling the police. Although the intruders escaped before the police arrived, Moses managed to secure an article of clothing from one of them, enabling the ultimate identification of the suspect through DNA matching. His bravery and professionalism make him a thoroughly deserving winner in this category.

Best Newcomer - Jamie Fabian, Scotland
In the mere six months since joining us, Retail Security Officer, Jamie Fabian, has impressed our customer immensely. Based at Asda in Blantyre, he has succeeded in greatly reducing both threats against staff and incidents of vandalism, through a commendable mixture of professional commitment and an ability to build a rapport with the youths in the area. His dedication and thirst for new skills – he has recently acquired his CCTV license – make him an extremely promising prospect for the future.

Best Newcomer - Christian Nock, Midlands
Since joining Reliance last year, Security Officer, Christian Nock has been frequently recognised for his outstanding performance in both customer service and public order duties. Based at Telford Shopping Centre, his role demands a high level of multi-tasking and the ability to prioritise a range of customer requirements, and he has proved that he’s not only a valuable team player but also a potential leader. His commitment and dedication to the role is an outstanding example to his colleagues.

Best Use of Technology - Scott Nickels, Luton
Having worked at Northampton Borough Council for five years, Scott Nickels, CCTV Operator, has an excellent knowledge of the systems and 500 cameras on site. In fact, the Council credits Scott for helping to make the streets of Northampton a safer place, and he has been commended by the police. With a highly developed ability to read body language and behaviour, he has played a key role in numerous arrests during the past year and is second to none in his professionalism and commitment.

The four winners were presented with their awards by James Kelly, Chief Executive of the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) at the Reliance National Consultative Meeting in February. Winners of the regional awards will now go forward to the finals which take place at the BSIA’s annual lunch in London on 14th July.

Commenting on the outstanding achievements of the Reliance officers, Neil Crossthwaite, Reliance Security Services Managing Director, said: “These winners should be extremely proud of their success. They have shown extraordinary professionalism among colleagues who are known for their dedication, bravery and commitment to customer care at sites throughout the UK”.
