Working in partnership with the police Reliance has already been able to demonstrate that our experience, focus and scale has enabled support services to be delivered in a professional manner often at a lower cost.

Reliance in Police services

Today the Police Modernisation Programme is challenging long held ideas about which functions should be delivered by warranted police officers and which functions could be undertaken by others to improve efficiency and effectiveness and enabling more resources to be focused on higher priority activities.

A Professional Custody Workforce

Reliance has over 420 officers operating in 30 custody centres managing over 470 cells

Reliance was the first private company to provide police custody assistants at Hereford in 1999. We now employ 424 officers operating in 30 centres with over 470 cells across Cleveland, Sussex, Thames Valley, Warwickshire and West Mercia. Our officers help process and look after over 220,000 detainees annually, including taking DNA samples and fingerprints, managing electronic ID parades, interpreters and forensic medical examinations.

Other Services

To support our Custody contracts Reliance Secure Task Management is also able to offer, Forensic Medical Examiners, DNA and drug testing, management of electronic ID parades and various training courses for police officers such as first aid refresher courses.

PFI - construction projects

PFI Projects

A Reliance led consortium opened a new, modern and fit for purpose Headquarters for Gloucestershire Constabulary. We have developed new Divisional Headquarters in Middlesbrough and Redcar for Cleveland Police Service and work is currently underway on new police facilities in Dartford, North Kent for Kent police.

For Sussex Police, we have developed and now manage a network of six Investigation and Detention Handling Centres catering for 50,000 detainees per annum.
