This contract, across the whole of Scotland including the Highlands and Islands, commenced in April 2004.

This is the first contract of its kind in Scotland and the most comprehensive in the UK. In addition to the core range of services delivered in England and Wales, it also includes inter-prison transfers and external escorting services such as escorting prisoners on compassionate visits.

The operational specification includes over 150 specialist vehicles and over 700 jobs across Scotland. This contract is a great testimony to the experience and expertise that Reliance has developed in delivering one of the key services of the criminal justice sector.

Since the start of the contract Reliance has seen a 25% increase in detainee numbers rising to on average 3,500 per week. Detainees are collected from all 75 Scottish Police Custody Suites.
