The Police Service
Reliance provides a range of police support services. Our activities mean that more police officers can spend time on patrol.
Our work is about creating new systems to allow the police to be better placed to do the jobs that need the specialist skills of sworn officers.
Working in partnership with the police, we have been able to demonstrate that our experience, focus and scale can enable a range of support services to be delivered at lower cost and improved efficiency. Reliance demands exacting quality standards and - empowered through the application of modern technology - we can release tangible operational benefits to the police.
Every year Reliance is entrusted by the police to:
- Operate in 39 police custody suites.
- Manage 350 custody areas in Crown, County and Magistrates Courts (High, Sheriff and District Courts in Scotland).
- Handle and process 644,000 detainees
- Transport 420,000 detainees (including from 230 police custody centres).
- Process 65,000 detainees through our Forensic Medical Examiners.
- Provide facilities management and security personnel to police headquarters, town police stations and custody suites.
We provide a range of specialist services including:

Working together to reduce crime
We work with a variety of agencies in the UK including NPIA, Sussex, Cleveland, Thames Valley, Strathclyde, Devon and Cornwall, Leicester, Gloucestershire and Kent Police.
